The Google Cloud Summit is the regional expression of the Google flagship event NEXT. Catering to IT decision makers and tech leaders across companies, Google was looking for an experiential partner who could create a tech-fuelled experience in 2 separate meetings in Mumbai and Bangalore. We decided to use technology to make this typically reticent segment of professionals come together and feel like a community bound by a common love for technology and learning. The result was an event created on 9 pillars; 9 unique and key technologies under one roof to help delegates understand the value of Google products as well as help people get closer to each other. The idea was simple, but getting 9 technologies to create a story in a single event needed immense planning and multiple layers of fall-back / backups. #GoogleCloudSummit was used by delegates to spread the good word on social media, helping reach the right audience.
Brief & Objective
The Google Cloud Summit is the regional IP of the Google flagship event NEXT, catering to IT decision makers and tech leaders across companies. The specific objectives were:
- To establish tech leadership in an experiential manner at the event
- Create a Google Cloud Community
- Connect attendees with peers and Google Cloud experts
- To experience first-hand how Google Cloud as an IP, is enabling innovation and get a deep understanding of products and solutions
Concept
Google was looking for an experiential partner who could create a tech-fuelled experience in 2 separate meetings in Mumbai and Bangalore. We decided to use technology to make this typically reticent segment of professionals come together and feel like a community bound by a common love for technology and learning. The result was an event created on 9 pillars; 9 unique and key technologies under one roof that could be experienced live by delegates in a way that they could understand the value of Google products. The idea was simple, but getting 9 technologies to create a story in a single event needed immense planning and multiple layers of fall-back / backups. #GoogleCloudSummit was used by delegates to spread the good word on social media, helping reach the right audience.
Execution & Amplification
Being a technology-enabled event, we decided to theme it cloud 9 and used 9 key technologies that are changing the way businesses function, to execute the event. Being an event, we had to make the tech immersive and experiential.
Cloud 9 @ the Google Cloud Summit was an event that created bliss and belonging by bringing people together. The design aspects of the event were planned along the following lines:
- The arrow in letter ‘X’ represented the forward motion of technology and innovation. This never-ending exploration has no roadmap; only an arrow to remind to keep searching, uncovering, and learning.
- Inspired by origami, the fold was used as another key visual expression to indicate what’s to come as it unfolds.
- Just as the single fold represents discovery, multiple pleats open up a whole world of possibility in design.

Results & Scale –
Delegates experienced technology at scale and in a live, physical environment. We made a community of tech geeks! One that walked out with a comprehensive understanding of what the Google suite of products can do for their specific businesses.
Besides the 5000 guests who were physically present at the event across 2 cities, #GoogleCloudSummit was used by delegates to post their views extensively on social platforms.
