Hello Revellers!
We hope that you had a cheerful and safe Holi, the festival of colours unique to our incredible culture
In our latest Scan-shot we have, as usual, an interesting melee of data that gives us a lot of hope and some challenges.
The good tidings include buoyant GST collections, and massive contributions to the GDP from Agriculture and Public Administration. The Consumer Confidence score continues to climb and so does consumer spending. Is that partly because of the high inflation? Hmmm! Paradoxically, unemployment is high, and that is an area of concern. The pandemic wave in January hit the flights and traveler numbers, but we will see that rebound soon.
The GST collections continue unabated, the Net Equity inflows doubled (there was a spike, but hopefully a continuing trend), unemployment went up a bit, as did inflation. Vehicle sales continue to reel from the production challenge, but the number of vehicles on the road... So so many!
Here's looking forward to the new financial year with hope and courage.
